Öğe A study on microwave assisted drying characteristics of red pepper(Academic Journals, 2011) Yelmen, Bekir; Ustuner, Tamer; Ustuner, MenderesThe method of drying red pepper by means of a combination of convectional oven plus microwave was investigated in this study. Red pepper was dried using hot air, microwave and a combination of microwave plus hot air. Therefore, some factors such as drying time, ratio of drying, changes in color, drying using microwave power settings above levels of energy consumption, drying by microwave power and hot air drying, only hot air drying, etc. were inspected for red pepper during relevant study. The models of Wang and Singh; Page; Improved Page; Henderson and Pabis; Newton; Logaritmical; Diffusion Approach; Verma; Exponential with Two-Terms; Simplified Fick Diffusion; Midilli; and Kucuk were compared so that moisture content for drying times of products could be determined in a given time by means of a laboratory dryer with microwave feature. The performances of aforesaid models were compared according to the determination coefficient (R-2), standard error of estimate (SEE) and residual sum of squares (RSS). It was found that the models of Midilli and Kucuk expressed the drying attitude of products better than the others.Öğe THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT CHEMICAL APPLICATIONS ON FIELD DODDER (Cuscuta campestris Yunck.) ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS OF LENTILS (Lens culinaris L.)(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2021) Ustuner, Tamer; Ustuner, MenderesThis research was conducted in 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 in the Agriculture Faculty Research area of Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University. The aim was to determine the effects of field dodder (Cuscuta campestris Yunck.) on agronomical properties of lentil variety Firat 87 (Lens culinaris L.). The effect of field dodder on lentil development was determined by comparing the results with the control varieties. It was concluded in the study that in chemical control of field dodder, the density of dodder was 13.217 (number/in') when only pendimetha lin was applied as pre -emergence herbicide; 20.473 (number/m2) imazamox was applied post -emergence herbicide; 8.274 (number/m2) while pre -emergence pendimethalin+post-emergence imazamox was applied; and 90.725 (number,/m2) in the control. It was determined that the highest effect on dodder density was obtained from pendimethaliw-imazamox and the lowest level was in imazamox application. Depending on the germination and haustorium-forming date and density, the effect of it was found to be insignificant on germination time. Also, it was effective on the plant height, number of branches per plant, number of flowering days, first pod height, number of plant grains, physiological maturation duration, number of the pods, grain yield, 1000 -seed weight, and seed yield at a statistical level.
