Breakıng free of the classroom: ımplementıng dıgıtal medıa to enhance students' ınvolvement ın learnıng mathematıcs
(IATED-INT ASSOC TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION A& DEVELOPMENT, 2016) Godejord, Beata; Gonzalez-Perez, Alicia; Figueiredo, Mauro; Solmaz, Arif; Chova, LG; Martinez, AL; Torres, IC
This paper is related the qualitative evaluation of the Erasmus+ project MILAGE "Interactive Mathematics by implementing a Blended-Learning model with Augmented Reality and Game books". Presented evaluation summarizes the first year of project realisation in selected upper secondary schools in Norway, Portugal and Spain. The analysis focuses on students' perceptions of the use of digital media for producing and sharing digital learning content for mathematics. The aim of the research is to develop an insight in students' attitudes, feelings and opinions on learning experience resulting from the engagement in the first year of the project activities, which, on the analysed stage, included production and sharing of videos presenting solutions to mathematical problems included in the curriculum for the first grade of upper secondary schools. These videos will be elements of a summative digital learning resource, which will cover curriculum in mathematics for upper secondary schools in the form of an e-book and an educational application for mobile use. To obtain perceptions on the defined area of interest, the involved researchers conducted focus groups with selected students and interpreted collected documents with the aid of computer-supported qualitative content analysis techniques. This article presents themes that emerged in the responses and seeks to outline discussion that would contribute to successful implementation of project goals in the following years of its realisation.

Ç.Ü. Uzay Bilimleri ve Güneş Enerjisi Araştırma ve Uygulama Merkezi (UZAYMER) : I. Gözlem Koşulları ve Güncel Projeler
(Türk Astronomi Derneği, 2021) Solmaz, Arif; Aksaker, Nazım; Akyüz, Aysun; Kurt, Zühal; Allak, Sinan; Aladağ, Yasemin; Karakılçık, Mehmet
Çukurova University Space Sciences and Solar Energy Research and Application Center (UZAYMER) was founded in 1991. In this work, we present current research in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics and solar energy and the astronomical infrastructure of the center. In addition, the astrometrological status of UZAYMER was investigated using long-term (20 years) data from the AstroGIS database and moderate-term (7 years) measurements taken from the meteorological station. Astronomical extinction coefficients, seeing conditions and light pollution measurements of UZAYMER were also obtained. Furthermore, the observation limits were determined for the UZAYMER 50 cm telescope (UT50) and the observation efficiency was evaluated. UZAYMER has reached a level that can support both national and international scientific collaborations with its improved technical infrastructure and increased human resources. With its annual number of clear nights, favorable weather conditions and dark sky values, UZAYMER ranks 972 in Group A of the Suitability Index for Astronomical Sites (SIAS) among the 2141 observatories.

Effects of Spot Occultations on Exoplanet Mid-Transit Timing Measurements
(Türk Astronomi Derneği, 2023) Solmaz, Arif; Basturk, Ozgur; Akyüz, Aysun
It is critical to detect timing variations in transit light curves in order to accurately determine the characteristics of transiting exoplanets. Transit and occultation timings are subject to change, mostly cyclically, by the anomalies in the light curve morphology due to limb darkening, stellar activity, ellipsoidal variations of the host star, and physical phenomenae such as additional bodies in the system, orbital precession, angular momentum change in the order of seconds, minutes, or hours. The effects of the occultations of surface spots observed in magnetically active host stars by a transiting planet on the measurements of mid-transit times are investigated in this study.
