Öğe Bibliometric Analysis of Studies on Sustainable Waste Management(MDPI, 2023) Yalcintas, Deniz; Oguz, Suzan; Ozelturkay, Eda Yasa; Gulmez, MuratEnvironmental issues have spread around the world as a result of rapidly evolving technology, industrialization, urbanization, and population expansion. Alongside this, wastes are produced as a result of rising manufacturing activities, the use of natural resources, and brisk consumption. Thus, waste management poses a great danger to both our environment and future generations and is one of the most important environmental problems of our age. Sustainable waste management should be implemented effectively in order to protect rapidly depleted natural resources within the scope of sustainable waste management, prevent the negative effects of waste on the environment and human health, and to ensure their participation as an economic input. The aim of this study is to examine the studies on sustainable waste management between the years 2010-2021 with the visual mapping method. In this context, SSCI, SCI and ESCI indexes were selected in the Web of Science database, and a search was conducted with the concept of sustainable waste management. There were 599 publications found with the phrase sustainable waste management in the title. Later, these publications were visualized and interpreted through the VOSviewer mapping method. The most frequently used keyword in the findings was sustainable waste management. The author with the most publications was Yong Sik Ok, while the most cited author was Daniel C.W. Tsang. It was observed that the highest number of publications among the countries was in China. China was also identified as the country with the highest number of citations. The findings of the study can be graphically visualized to obtain the most relevant information to be applied in firms. Additionally, because doing a literature review requires a lot of time, it is believed that the researchers will find the findings of this study that compiles the literature useful. For policy makers can bring new perspectives about incorporating strategies in wastes and waste management.Öğe Renewable Energy Matters for Tourism Industry in BRICS Plus Turkey Countries(Springer Science and Business Media B.V., 2020) Satrovic, Elma; Muslija, Adnan; Ozelturkay, Eda YasaThe scope of this paper is to investigate whether or not the renewable energy influences the tourism industry in the case of BRICS plus Turkey countries. Due to the fact that the primary energy source in these countries is fossil fuels, this has risen up a serious concern on environmental issues. The motivation to select these countries lies in the fact that all of these six have recorded an exponential economic growth in the last few decades. As a consequence, the standard of living has been increased as well as the energy consumption. Thus, the annual panel data are collected in the period between 1995 and 2015 in the case of BRICS countries plus Turkey to explore the link of interest. We have employed the panel VAR methodology. The most important findings suggest a response of tourism industry to renewable energy to be significant and negative. However, this negative relationship holds true in the short-run while the long-run impact tends to be positive. These results can be of great importance for policy makers, thus this paper summarizes in detail the policy implications. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.Öğe Turkish and Greek gift purchase behaviour and advertisement on traditional and online media communication tools based on gender differences(Inderscience Publishers, 2020) Kavoura, Androniki; Bozyigit, Sezen; Ozelturkay, Eda YasaThe purpose of the research was to determine the way respondents from two different countries employ offline and online social media, namely: 1) to investigate Greek consumer preferences on the use of advertising tools when purchasing gifts; 2) to investigate Turkish consumer preferences on the use of advertising tools when purchasing gifts; 3) to identify differences in the advertising preferences with reference to offline and online media tools of different consumer cultures in terms of gender and nationality characteristics. Turkish and Greek men are more familiar than women with new technologies and paid more attention to online advertising media, a finding that sheds light to the contradictory results of literature so far. SMS advertising has significant differentiation between Greek and Turkish; Turkish have more preference for radio however Greek prefer magazine advertisements, justifying the significant role of traditional media even if literature argues for their obsolete role. © 2020 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.
