Özet
Bu çalışmada ‘’Geometri Bahçesi’’nin öğrencilerin matematik dersi ile ilgili kaygılarını gidermek ve başarılarını arttırmadaki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Bahçenin kurulması öncesinde ve sonrasında uygulanan testlere dayandırılan çalışma, Mersin’in Silifke ilçesi Keben Köyü İlköğretim Okulu öğrencileri ve öğretmenleriyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular sonucunda ‘’Geometri Bahçesi’’nin matematik eğitimine yaptığı (olumlu) katkılar ‘’Gerçekçi Matematik Eğitimi’’ çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiş ve geleneksel yöntemle yapılan öğretimden ne ölçüde daha etkin olabildiği değerlendirilmiştir
A Cure for Mathematics Anxiety: ’’Geometry Garden’’ in the Context of ‘’Realistic Mathematics Education’’ in Elementary Schools Abstact: The aim of this study is to research on the effect of a “Geometry Garden” on mathematics teaching in elementary level geometry education. The project contains the application of a questionary on the students of of Keben Elementary School in Silifke, Mersin, before and after the construction and use of the “Geometry Garden” in the same school. Findings from the study are evaluated to see at what level the “Geometry Garden” had a positive effect on the learning level of students. The concept of ‘’Realistic Mathematics Education’’ discussed in the context of successful mathematics education has been contrasted with the traditional mathematics education method
