Özet
Bu çalışmada çocukların İngilizce öğrenimine katkılarını araştırmak için kelime portfolyosu uygulandı. Bu bağlamda, vaka çalışması yöntemiyle çalışma Niğde'de bir 5. sınıfa uygulandı. Çalışma 2014-2015 Eğitim – Öğretim yılında 18 tane 5. sınıf öğrencisiyle yatılı bir ortaokulda uygulandı. Kelime portfolyosunun katkılarını görmek için, katılımcılar her seferinde değişik ödevler yaptılar. Daha sonra öğretmen günlüğü, öğrenci değerlendirme kağıtları ve açık uçlu anketten niceliksel data elde edildi. Bu araçlar aracılığı ile araştırmacı tüm süreci adım adım takip edebilmiştir. Araştırma sorusunu düzgün bir şekilde cevaplayabilmek için data detaylı bir şekilde toplanmış ve derinlemesine analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçları kelime portfolyosunun öğrencilerin motivasyon ve kelime bilgisini artırdığını gösterdi.
In this study, vocabulary portfolio was implemented to investigate the contributions of it to young learners' learning English. Accordingly, the study was implemented in a 5th grade class in Niğde through a case study. The study was conducted with 18 5th grade students in boarding secondary school in the academic year 2014-2015. In order to see the contributions of the vocabulary portfolio, participants composed various tasks in each time. Later on, data qualitative were obtained from teacher's diary, students' reflection papers and open-ended questionnaire. Through these instruments, the researcher was able to follow the whole process step by step. To answer the research question properly, the data were collected in details and then they were analyzed in depth. The findings of this study have shown that vocabulary portfolio enhances learners' motivation and vocabulary gain.
