Due to especially the patriarchal structure of society in Turkey, usually men have the executive administrative positions and our value of judgment leads us to think that only men are capable of making decision and hence administration is a job for them. For this reason, women's organizational ranks in which they have to be efficient to make decisions is not very welcome in our society. It is known that the negative point of view towards women holding some administrative positions still affects society. The behavioral pattern of such people is based on traditional conventions which place women in a cycle of house, motherhood and chores; of course well behind their men. Much research has been carried out recently, related to sex stereotyping imposed upon women by school administrations and the factors which prevent women from being managers. It is strongly stressed that attitudes towards female managers are of great significance, which is one of the reasons for the scarcity of female managers. (Scarcity of the number of female managers in the education system has been a notable issue in Turkey, where the position of women and gender equality in society is a frequent subject of debate today.) This study is aimed to investigate the attitudes of teachers and administrators towards women in administrative positions. The study group consisted of the teachers and administrators at public schools in Adana's districts (Seyhan, Cukurova, Yuregir and Saricam) where women held an administrative position in the academic year of 2015-2016. The sample consisted of 818 teachers and administrators. Descriptive survey method was used to conduct the research. Attitudes towards Women Managers Scale were used to collect data. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software program was used to analyze the data. For descriptive statistics, frequency, percent, average and Standard deviation were used. For the statistical analysis t and ANOVA tests were used. As a result of the data analysis; it was found out that there are significant differences between the groups at gender, at age, type of the schools. However, no significant differences were found between the groups at educational level of the teachers.en_US
